1st night of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo was a lot of fun. Got to see a bunch of rodeo friends we only see a few times a year - lots of rodeo royalty!
Tonight begins the fun again, Rodeo starts at 7pm then for a little fun, heard (yes I meant Heard) on over to COWBOYS night club - either Cowboys Downtown or Cowboys EAST! Cowboys didn't become the CMA (Country Music Association) club of the year by accident - they work hard to ensure EVERYONE has a great experience. Cowboys... no one even comes close to what they have achieved in the world of country music including all the great LIVE music they book into their clubs on a regular basis.
2 great things for you and your friends to get into this Thursday, Friday and Saturday... Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and Cowboys!

COUNTRY MUSIC - Rodeo Week
The parade last night was really cool - I got to see most of it and the reaction our troops got was humbling.
Of course with the parade it signals RODEO WEEK! Be sure to make it to the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo! Then afterwards, hook it up at a really fun place like Cowboys Downtown or Cowboys East where LIVE music will be playing with LATIGO - the Colorado Country Music Association Band of the Year this Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Of course, the best clubs bring you the best live music and fun - Cowboys will be bringing in Jason Michael Carroll July 30th! Cat Country will be hosting that show so we hope to see you there.

During Springs Spree, I was challenged to a human hamster ball race from our night guy, JRod and the gold metal was up for grabs...and I brought the gold home! Speaking of Gold... thanks to working out at Gold's Gym... that helped me win!
Another cool acoustic concert coming up... listen to Cat Country for more details....

This is the Gold's Gym Logo and not only is this the ultimate place to workout in 1000 miles of Colorado Spring, they are also hosting a car show! I love car shows... I love vintage and new super cool cars too like the new Camero coming in 2010 but that's getting off track... (no pun intended) If you've been to Gold's recently you've seen the silver Corvette parked in front - I really want to take that for a ride and see how fast it will go... but again I'm getting off track...Here's the details:
Gold's Gym Car Show is THIS Saturday from 10:30am-2:30pm
Go to the car show and if you haven't signed up to be a part of the best gym in town- take a tour of the gym (cinema room is my favorite!) and get signed up with their 1 year anniversary sale meaning $0 enrollment! A few of our other good friends of Cat Country are hosting this great car show event including Car Toys, Famous Dave's... don't forget to check out the silent auction!
On another note:
The band I play in; LATIGO just won 9 awards from the Colorado Country Music Association including Best Band! We'll be rockin' The Carey On Saloon this weekend on Friday and Saturday night! Hope you can make it and bring ear plugs - we're loud!!!!!!!!
That's our picture at the top of the page actually taken by a professional potographer...

T-Days was a hoot even with the rain that tried to dampen the events. Trent Tomlinson was GREAT on stage Saturday and I had to cancel the Ely Young Band simply bit was because the rain soaked the stage in water BUT the good news is we are going to bring back the Ely Young Band to Cowboys for a show and we'll let you know about that as soon as we put the details together.
J-Rod had me arrested at T-Days (for charity) be sure to check out his blog and see the pictures.
I could have done without his Bullhorn announcements as they took me off to 'jail' - it was all in good fun!

KEMPO ROCKS!
Hello everyone and thanks again for checkin' out my blog.
I had a meeting with a new client to Cat Country; it's Kempo Rocks Karate! I was talking with Marty Taylor the head instructor and he's got me interested in taking some classes at their brand new location - 2458 Montebello Square Dr in Colorado Springs - its on Academy north of Union (719-231-3557) this is a lot different from the other Martial Arts I've been involved with in the past. Marty isn't about the MMA and the UFC type ground and pound (which I love to watch) - but his school is more about FAMILY and a solid foundation from which to work from.
Marty and his wife have come up with a great tag line: "Be Strong and Courageous"... if you are a mom looking to get your children involved in sports this summer - try looking at Karate Rocks. You can look at their website at kemporocks.com or email Marty at marty@kemporocks.com
Please tell Marty Jim West of Cat Country sent you!
BAND ALERT!!!!!!!
The band I play in "LATIGO" is playing at the Carey On Saloon this Friday and Saturday Nights. We start at 9pm each evening - come out and see what the buzz is all about with LATIGO.
Thanks gang!

WOW! the Wild Wild West Fest was a huge success as well as the PBR events for Saturday and Sunday, both events were sold out! And Cat Country was the ONLY country station that was the official voice for the West Fest and the PBR events - but Cat Country was already the official voice for the PBR as well as the PRCA - the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo - Territory Days - Spring Spree and the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame! When it comes to All things Professional Cowboy - Cowgirl - PBR events and Rodeos Cat Country is proud to be associated with the great people in the rodeo and PBR worlds.

Eric Church concert at Cowboys was a hoot! Eric puts on a great show and the crowd was really pumped. This was my second time to meet Eric and still a really humble down to earth regular guy!
Now that Mothers Day is past - time to start thinking about Fathers Day?
All of us at Cat Country is looking forward to Wild Wild West Fest this weekend. Top Bull Riders in the world will be attending the PBR events! This is going to be one great show! See you there!

Ok, I'm told to let a little insight into my life for you so here goes. I play in a country band and it's called LATIGO. We have been practicing the past several months like we have no lives other than being in a band (after work hours of course). I have to say, this is one of the best bands I've ever been in (honestly) and we've been getting great reviews from some of the places we've been playing.
We haven't really advertised the band yet as we are just getting started but in a few weeks we'll be at the Carey-On-Saloon. LATIGO will also be playing at the Wild West Fest coming up and we've been playing a couple of places in Denver too. I'll post some pictures soon if I can find any cool ones - only Rene Tate (official Cat Country photographer) can really good a good picture of me....!

West Fest and the PBR - we have the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo - all of which Cat Country is the official country radio station voice. Need a new AC unit for your home - just click around on the web site some more and I'm sure you'll find lots of interesting contests and events you and your family can attend. Thanks again for listening to Cat Country! We really appreciate it!

Cat Country is back in Cowboys! We had a great time last night with a couple of new Nashville acts while Tim (the manager) had a big grin... more big news about Cat Country and Cowboys coming soon...please stayed tuned.
Another snow storm coming this Saturday... but does it really matter? Everyone in Colorado still gets around pretty good... snow or not!
Had a question about Alan Jackson's new song "Sissy's Song". He wrote it about his long time housekeeper who was killed on a motorcycle last year. He wrote it for the family and they suggested he put it on his CD.
Always interesting stuff happening at Cat Country - be sure to 'click' around while your here...
Thanks!

We love taking care of our Cat Country listeners! Alisha and I have been doing the morning show and we received an email from a couple of the guys who are in Iraq who listen to us on-line! Thanks for that and thanks to all in uniform who protect us day in and day out! Last Man Standing tickets for tomorrow....

Went to the Rascal Flatts show and they did a great job - very entertaining and great music. The Pepsi Center was packed and for the encore, everyone waved their cell phone - it has replaced lighters i guess - but it was very cool. I had a chance to meet the guys and they are all very nice people you'd love to live next door to. Their fame has not gone to their heads and it seems they really love their fans.
Pat Green did a great job at the Rose in Denver - he had cancelled his show here in the Springs because of his voice, but he still sounded great. Randy Houser opened for Pat and Randy did a great job too... he's a star just waiting to happen - he has his second single out now and Cat Country is playing it!
I went to a couple of guitar stores in the Denver area on Saturday... I wish there was a Goodwill store for guitars... I mean, a guy can dream... right?

Well, its Valentines weekend - hopefully you'll be doing something cool with your sweetheart. I'll be practicing with my band "Rock-N-Horse" all weekend as we get ready for our first gig. More on that coming up.
Had a great time with a new country act: Caitlin & Will. They were in the studio with Alisha this afternoon and I got to play guitar with them. I hope Aliaha puts the interview in our Paw'dcast section here on the website.
Don't forget the Super Show and Swap Meet at the Phil Long Expo Center this Sat & Sun.
Most will have Monday off, if you do have a great 3 day weekend!

I'm in a new country band... finally after several false starts. The name of the band is: Rock-N-Horse. We have been learning new country songs that are currently heard on Cat Country and we've have a nice set of Classic Country songs too. We have some dates booked here in the Springs and Denver, a myspace page and I'll list them here as soon as everything comes together.
Thanks to everyone who has been sending in their email request for The Meow Mix at 5pm. More info here on the website.
After taking a month off from holidays and being under the weather... I've finally been able to get back into Gold's Gym. What a great feeling! If you've been wanting to get back into shape, now is the time to get yourself hooked up! It's really affordable and the best investment in your health! Come and work out with me, I'm there almost every night after I get off the air at 6pm, give me a call 52-88-cat anytime from 3p-6p and let me know you're on your way... I can get you set up for a trial membership if you don't have one already! Just let me know.

MOVIES!
I guess because of the weather, I've been under it staying at home and catching a few movies. Please let me help you avoid a couple:
Strange Wilderness- a comedy but it's as stupid as it gets. Some funny stuff but I couldn't watch it all.
Pineapple Express - I couldn't watch it all - really weird drug humor.
Burn After Reading - has a great cast but again kinda weird for me and I couldn't watch it all the way through. The previews at the theaters made it seem cool but...
I'll try and get a few more but it seems like a waste of money when the movies are not so good...

Weekend!
The weekend is upon us and I get to spend it at home! Yuck! I guess I got the cough going around the station so I have DJ McCoy filling in for me today (Friday).
Be sure to listen for the Valentines Day Montage and get qualified for the Big Day and all the cool prizes you can win!
I was at the PBR headquarters this week and what an impressive building. We are looking to partner up with the PBR and we have some exciting events coming. As you may know, Cat Country is already the official radio station for the PRCA and The Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and we appreciate the relationships we've forged with these outstanding people.

YeeHaw!
I finally went to see "Grand Torino" with Clint Eastwood last night. I think i've seen every movie Clint Eastwood has done. In Grand Torino, he also directed it. It didn't end they way I thought but its a great good vs evil movie that seems to work in Hollywood. For us 'car guys' I don't think this movie will spark a lot of interest in the Ford Grand Torino even though they said it was a 429 Cobra Jet - they never showed the engine so I have my doubts if it really was a 429. Interesting to note, the move isn't really about the car at all - or at least a small portion of the move is even spent on the car.
If you like Clint Eastwood, then its a must see.
The new President is now in office and Clear Channel has made massave staff and budget cuts company/world - wide. (Cat Country is owned by Citadel NOT Clear Channel) It seems every business is feeling the crunch and not just media companys.

Wow! The PBR Event last night was awesome! 30 of the 40 Bull Riders were just at the NFR so the show was all first class! Tommy G really knows how to put on an event and we look forward to doing more events with Tommy.
So my cell phone flip lid gets damaged - I go to replace it - while standing in line there is a mom almost yelling at her daughter about her cell phone replacements. I gather by overhearing... that the young lady has had a few replacement phones - but I thought it was funny how people just air out their laundry in public.
New Clint Eastwood movie this weekend - it has a buzz here in the radio station so I guess I gotta go see it so I know what everyone is talking about on Monday!
You don't care about the Super Bowl? No worries, we are planning something for you.
Stay tuned!

Just got back to the Springs last night and did some flying. Airports are the worst? You gotta wait in line, take your shoes off, get patted down, run to the gate, sit in a narrow seat and and then pay for water or a cola... wow! and now they want you to check your bags and pay extra for that too? I started putting stuff in a plastic Walmart sack... that way they can't charge me for a 'bag' when I'm holding a 'sack"! They don't say anything about paying for a sack!
I was in Arizona and the temp was 72 - then today in the Springs it's snowing! Yeah for Snow.
I got a call today from Rascal Flatts manager and they are booked for Denver! More details coming! I gotta see that show!
Don't forget to join the ONLY station invited to attend the PBR! January 15th 7:30pm.
We're putting together a fun Valentines promotion for you - I know its early to talk about Valentines Day - but how many times have you scrambled at the last minute to find your loved one something SPECIAL?... yeah, I thought so...

Starting the New Year is always fun - out with the old and in with the new! Then back to the old again!
This is still a great time to get yourself signed up at Gold's Gym and get a new you! The Gold's Gym Ski bus trip was a hoot! Anyone that went can tell you that. All of us who went spent QUALITY time together! YeeHaw!
I'll be out of the office and off the air till next Monday. Taking a little vacation time now that Wingnut and Alisha are back in the studio!
Don't forget to get your tickets to the PBR coming 1/15/09 and listen to Cat Country to win tickets!
