I got a text from Wingnut yesterday - seems like his vacation plan took a turn as his flight was cancelled! I guess due to weather. I really hate a grumpy Wingnut!
I made out like a Bandit at the Secret Santa party here at work... I got a cool picture signed from Robert Conrad (the original Jim West from the Wild Wild West TV show) I have it framed and hung in my office now... I also received a nice Christmas Card from Carrie Underwood - signed, so I put it in a frame too - cool stuff....
I'll be glad when the 'food' part of the holiday's is over - I glad I have a membership to Gold's Gym - it's the only thing saving me from turning into a weather balloon!
I watched Larry the Cable Guy's new DVD "Larry's Christmas". I have no idea who he is trying to appeal to because the show is too adult for children and too stupid for adults... however, there was some funny stuff in it.
Merry Christmas!

It's so cold... "HOW COLD IS IT"? ... it's so cold I have ice on the INSIDE of my car windows!
OK, I know this sounds weird, but driving around on Sunday I noticed ice on my windshield but it wouldn't come off - so I had the great idea I would use my ice scrapper - I didn't know I was going to need it on the inside of mt truck... Now that's cold!
Cat Country staff braved the cold this morning to collect bikes in the Mr. Biggs parking lot. It was -4 this morning and as the sun came up - it warmed up to 12. If this is how the homeless have to live then we all need to be thankful as we sit at our computers in a nice warm room... thanks for stopping by and donating this year. Lots of children are going to be happy this Christmas season thanks to you!
I'm looking forward to spending Christmas in Colorado Springs this year. I hope it snows...

Spent the afternoon yesterday broadcastin' live from the Black Bear Dinner for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help children. The owner Fay and the crew are some of the best people you will ever come in contact with... real pros's with a great dinner and food that will make your eyeballs pop out! No one walks away hungry at the Black Bear Dinner. When you get the chance, please stop into the Black Bear Dinner and see what I mean... great people, great food! I'm proud they are such great neighbors in our community.

What a great Thanksgiving week! Too much Food! It's a good thing I have a Gold's Gym membership - this way I get to eat what I want as long as I keep working out. I'm glad I have a head start on the holidays working out already! If you have weight issues - join Gold's!
Funny thing happened this weekend - a friend of my mind (lets call that friend 1) was talking to another friend of mine (lets call that friend 2) and the subject of the weekend Rams football game came up - friend 1 said 'Rams lost' and friend 2 said ...'oh no, I Tivoed the game to watch later". You really gotta be careful these days with Tivo! It was funny...
Have you noticed at the mall how the kiosks sales people are acting like circus carnies? They try to pull you in, especially the cell phone company's. I can't tell you how many of them wanted to know about my cell phone... watch out! Unless you need a cell phone...
We're rolling into the Christmas season full on now - we have lots of things planned for you, so this would be a great time for me to thank you for listening to Cat Country 95.1. Thanks so much for hanging with us...

There was a lot going on this past weekend on Cat Country. Wingnut had a live broadcat at Appliance Word and Bryan Waters was broadcating live from Quality Inn for Goldman's Too. Alisha was at the new Phil Long Ford Used lot.
I was able to get out and see Tracy Byrd Saturday night. I want to say thanks to Tim the manager for being such a cool Cat! I thought it would be more packed but it's been a while since Tracy Byrd has had a hit single on the radio.
At times it seemed as his band was a little lost on some of the songs - the past couple of times I've seen Tracy Byrd he's had new band members so maybe their still learning some of his tunes. For the encore Tracy stood on the stage for several minutes trying to think of some songs to do - that seemed kind of weird - the band even started a song and Tracy stopped them - that was kind of weird too. The show didn't seem real polished but Tracy was singing great once he got a song started. For an artist who's been doing this as long as he has I guess I expected a little more from him in the entertainer department.
The next Tracy Lawrence show will be in Denver and I'll be making my way up to that show too. He'll be at the Rose.

I was lucky to attend a meeting on Ft. Carson today and it was an honor to mingle with our nations finest. There was a yellow sign that looked like a 'School Crossing" or "Deer Crossing" type sign but it had a Tank on it... very cool!
Be sure to listen starting tomorrow (Friday 11/7/08) as Cat Country starts giving away iPod Shuffles from The Mac Superstore at Powers next to JC Penny - please stop in the Mac Superstore and check out all the cool goodies! Nice people at the Mac Superstore. Please support them as they are great neighbors giving Cat Country listeners great deals!
On Monday, we start giving away the new LeeAnn Womack CD called "Call Me Crazy". It has her new single on it "Last Call" and a duet with George Strait and I'll be playing a few cuts from it tomorrow afternoon. We also just started playing George Strait single "River of Love" and it sounds great!
We have some really cool things coming your way in the next few weeks, so thanks for listening to So. Colorado's most listened to Country Radio Station: The New Cat Country 95.1

Happy Halloween! Please have a safe one - that means NO driving and drinking or letting someone you know who's been drinking behind the wheel of the car. I want you to have fun, but I also want you around with us for a long time! We're going to have a great rest of the year planned for you and 2009 is going to be a lot of fun too!
I had a pleasant surprise today at lunch. I went to Oliver's delicatessen at 6602 A Delmonico Drive up by Cat Country for the first time and when I walked in they were playing Cat Country! Yeah! Thanks to Sharon for being so nice to talk to! A great place for lunch too if you get tired of the Subway thing...
Dodge ball on Saturday (where's the aspirins?) and I've been invited to a bunch of parties on Saturday but honestly, I'm not much for large parties so I think I'll keep it close to home and eat the left over candy from the night before. I think I'll only trick-or-treat at Wingnut's house! He has the best candy... I know because I had to help him carry all the candy bags from Wal-Mart to his car!!!
I have a new contest coming for the afternoon drive home - details forthcoming on the cat country web site!
Thanks for listening, we all appreciate it very much!

Thanks to Curb Records for helping us and its cool one of our troops gets the crack at 1 Million dollars! All he has to do is correctly guess the score on a football game of his choice... best of luck Jason!

This is going to be a great weekend! A group of station people from Cat Country is going to the Grisly Rose to see Mark Chesnutt. I'm looking forward to seeing Mark as I haven't seen his show in a few years - since we lived in Beaumont, Texas at the same time. Tracy Byrd and Zona Jones is also a part of the circle of friends.
Then I get to go to Apex Sports and do a live Broadcat from 10a-12n this Saturday morning. Apex Sports is family owned and has been since the 1960's. A great place to buy your motorcycle and needs. I always love looking at all the cool stuff they have and I get to pass on some great deals to cat Country listeners!
Saturday night, I'll be hanging with the guys in the band I'm practicing with - there's still no name yet but we tried out a Drummer last night and I think we'll be able to move forward and be playing out soon. Some of the wives of the band guys are having a Mexican Dinner for the group of us - it should be a lot of fun. These are really great guys and very talented musicians - I have no idea why they want me around...
Sunday should be the day of rest! So I'm gonna hang out on Wingnut's sofa, watch football and make him order pizza!
Be sure to listen Monday for Free Music Monday. Rascall Flatts Greatest Hit's Volume 1 will be up for grabs

Wow! What a beautiful morning! 10/22/08. The first snow fall of the season, I love it! However I didn't like scraping ice off the windshield this morning! First, I had to find my ice scraper...
In all my excitement of seeing the first snow fall, I forgot that with snow comes ice scraping...
I was quickly reminded when I went outside to start my truck.
I know people who grew up here or have been here many, many years may not want to see snow yet... but having grown up in Arizona, the snow and winter is a magical season for me. It reminds me of the holiday season that is coming up on us rather quickly - these should be happy times filled with great memories or a great time to make new ones.
This will be my first full winter in Colorado Springs. I arrived here this past January so I missed a few months of the beginning of last years winter season.
Now the winter season is officially here, maybe you would like to share your special Chili and cornbread recipe's?

What a great weekend. I took the day with a friend and went to Woodland Park. The drive up was eye candy because the leaves are turning and dotting the landscape thus making our little community one of the most beautiful places on earth. Funny to think people actually vacation here year round and perhaps many of them would love to live here. I know I'm glad I do.
Recently I've been practicing with a local country band and the plan is to get out and start playing live here locally. I'll keep you posted on how its going and maybe you can make plans to come out and visit with us. The band doesn't have a name yet but if you have any cool suggestions please let me know. There are some really great players in this developing band.
Thanks to everyone who came and got free coffee from our friends at Dutch Bros Coffee new location. 301 East Colorado. Please stop in and get a great product from these super nice people and thanks for the visit when Wingnut and I were broadcattin live last Friday Morning.
I also stopped in over the weekend at one of my favorite places: "Wings Pizza and Things" on Briargate at the King Soopers shopping center. Rebbecca is one of the nicest people you'll meet and the food is the best! They catered one of our live concerts this past summer and they are great to work with. Rebbecca wants to see you for their happy hour after work sometime soon - maybe today!

This is Flu Shot season... just about all my friends and my co-workers here at the radio station have gotten one. I have never taken a flu shot... my thinking is if all my friends get a flu shot they won't get the flu and then they won't get me sick! Is that wrong?
We're working on a really cool Ski Trip Bus ride for you with my good friends at Golds Gym.
By the way, Golds Gym is the best bunch of people and the best Gym in the COS. I'm in there almost everyday. If you're thinking of getting started on a workout program or just getting back into it, please check out Golds. Tell Julie or Antoinne Jim West sent you. Get a jump on the New Year now!
I'm listening to the new Lee Ann Womack CD that just came in today. I love her voice and Cat Country is playing her new single "Last Call".
Thanks again for checking out my Blog - feel free to write comments - or call me on my show each weekday from 3p-7p.

Welcome to my first ever 'blog'. Some people ask; why blog? Well, a lot of times I don't have the chance to go into a lot of detail on subjects I touch on during my show on Cat Country from 3p-7p, so my hope is blogging will let me touch on a lot more items and will allow me to spend a little more time talking about some really cool stuff that happens on a daily basis around Cat Country and in the Springs.
At this writing, American Idol Kristy Lee Cook will not preform live at McCabes this Friday the 17th. Kristy Leee Cook has called in sick...
Please check out catcountry951.com often and see all the cool current events Cat Country is involved in.
This past weekend I had a personal tour guide take me to the Greg Francis Big Horn Sheep Habitat to see the big horn's but it was a little cold and windy this past Sunday so I think the sheep were hunkered down somewhere. I saw the Greg Francis Big Horn display that was commissioned by the same gentleman who did the art work you see at the COS airport.
Then there was Queens Canyon - what a breath taking view from the rim. Anyone can hike into the habitat but my tour guide had a key to the gate which made it nice considering how cold and windy it was last Sunday. By the way, Greg Francis did amazing work for Colorado Springs in preserving and working areas of the land and his visions will continue. I know he is missed by many but his work will last forever.
Every time I venture out into the Springs I see some of the most amazing scenery and because we live in an amazing place, the people that live here are a huge part as to why we are so lucky.
Truly, Cat Country listeners are becoming a big family too. I can't thank you enough for hanging with us!
